Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is well-known for her stellar roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. She won several awards including an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. The accomplished actress started her career as an actor on the stage through a variety of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. She has always had an interest in acting ever since she was in high school. The first time she appeared in a show in the fifth grade was in Helen Keller. The actress was deaf in one ear after suffering from Mumps, but she didn't let this disability dampen her desire to be an actor. At college, she was a theatre student as well as later moving from Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her goal. Hunter met Beth Henley by chance in the lift. Together they composed Broadway Crimes of the Heart. It was Hunter's acting debut. After moving into Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure a supporting role for the role of a supporting character in Swing Shift. For the past 30 years Holly Hunter has been on numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in addition to an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
